Support for Law Enforcement and First Responders

I believe our law enforcement officers and first responders deserve the full support of our state and local government to perform their duties.  That is why, as Village Trustee, I was proud to vote for budgets that ensured funding for personnel, training, and equipment for the Arlington Heights Police and Fire Departments.  These resources support our first responders in providing the award-winning services that we’ve come to expect in our community.

I am also a proud graduate of the Arlington Heights Police Department Citizens Police Academy, a 10-week program created for citizens to gain an understanding of police services and advocate in support of police-sponsored activities and programs within Arlington Heights. I witnessed the various roles we ask our first responders to play in our communities, from providing emergency aid to apprehending suspects and counseling citizens in need, to being the face of our government in our neighborhoods.  With this in mind, it is imperative that our government ensures these first responders have the resources they need to be effective partners and protectors of our citizens.

As a Trustee, I have perspective on the practical and funding implications state legislation can have at a local level, considerations that are critical when asking our first responders to effectively implement new laws. As a state representative, I will take these lessons to Springfield to ensure our police officers, firefighters, and other first responders have the support they need to address the many challenges they face in keeping our communities safe.
